United States Found Negligent In Boy's Death At National Park

California news reports that the United States government has been found negligent in the death of a boy killed at Lassen Volcanic National Park. The wrongful death lawsuit was filed after the boy was crushed by a retaining wall at the Northern California national park. A wrongful death lawsuit is similar to a personal injury suit, but is brought on behalf of an individual killed due to the carelessness or recklessness of another. The personal injury claim in this instance also involved allegations of negligence and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

If you or a loved one sustains injuries in any type of personal injury accident, it is important to speak with an experienced San Francisco personal injury attorney right away. A skilled California lawyer can begin an investigation into all of the factors that may have caused or contributed to any one incident.

According to reports, the boy and his sister were hiking on a trail through the park and sat down on the retaining wall to take pictures. The wall crumbled, and the boy was crushed by a massive boulder. The sister also sustained serious personal injuries. Before investigators could examine the retaining wall to determine just what happened, officials at the park intentionally demolished the remaining portions of the wall. As punishment for the park's actions, and based on the recommendation of a magistrate, a Sacramento U.S. District Judge issued an order finding the park service negligent.

Following the federal court order, the personal injury lawsuit will move forward to the next phase of litigation.
