San Francisco news reports that several people have suffered serious personal
injuries in a tour bus crash. According to sources, the double decker
bus collided with an SUV on the Embarcadero close to the Ferry Building.
8 passengers sustained minor injuries, and 7 were taken to nearby hospitals.
This is the second tour bus accident in as many months. In November, a
tour bus lost control and hit a man while riding his bicycle. In that
crash, 20 people were injured. Victims suffered facial and head injuries
as well as leg, arm and rib fractures. Officials believe that the accident
was the result of a mechanical failure.
The cause of the more recent crash remains under investigation.
Whenever any type of motor vehicle accident occurs, it is important to
conduct a thorough investigation of all the factors that may have caused
or contributed to an incident.
For example, was the bus in proper working order? Were there any defective
parts- or did the owner of the tour bus properly maintain the vehicle?
Additionally, it’s important to evaluate the conduct of the driver.
In some instances, an individual driver may me held responsible for his
or her reckless conduct
and the company that hires a driver, especially if the driver has a history
of reckless or negligent behavior.
Other times, factors such as the weather or the condition of the roadway
may play a role in causing an accident.
Where multiple factors may be responsible for another’s injuries,
each party may be required to pay a percentage of damages attributed to
that defendant. As a result, it is critical to determine each cause.
