Jeffrey S. Mitchell
PartnerJeffrey S. Mitchell is a San Francisco- based attorney that has spent his entire legal career specializing exclusively in medical malpractice. After several years spent defending hospitals and physicians in malpractice cases, Mr. Mitchell decided to represent injured consumers over a decade ago.
Mr. Mitchell has successfully resolved countless cases by way of trial verdict and pre-trial settlement for well over seven figures. Recently, Mr. Mitchell was the winner of the largest verdict in a medical malpractice case in California history in the counties north of Sacramento. His work on that case along with his body of work to date earned him acclaim from the Consumer Attorneys of California as a finalist for its prestigious Street Fighter of the Year Award. Additionally, in 2009, Mr. Mitchell was honored by his peers as the winner of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association Trial Lawyer of the Year Award. He has also been honored by his peers as a Northern California Super Lawyer, an honor awarded to less than five percent of all attorneys, and just one percent of personal injury lawyers.
In addition to being a highly sought after speaker by various legal and medical groups, Mr. Mitchell’s work in the field has been chronicled by a variety of media outlets, including the Los Angeles Times, Redding Record-Searchlight, Contra Costa Times, Chico Enterprise-Record, San Francisco Daily Journal, Los Angeles Daily Journal, San Francisco Recorder, Los Angeles Metropolitan News and KGO-TV San Francisco.
Mr. Mitchell is a member of various legal organizations, including invitation only groups such as the Litigation Counsel of America and the Million Dollar and Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Since 2007, he has been elected to the Board of Governors of the Consumer Attorneys of California. He is also a member of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego and the Consumer Attorneys of Los Angeles.
Mr. Mitchell practices throughout California and in Northern Nevada. In fact, in the twelve months prior to March 2010, he had resolved 17 medical malpractice cases (many valued greater than $1,000,000) in 12 different California counties. It is a significant testament to his reputation that a large percentage of case referrals to Mr. Mitchell are derived from malpractice defense attorneys, insurance company representatives and physicians—the very people Mr. Mitchell typically prosecutes cases against.
