San Jose news reports that a second plane accident has occurred at the city's Reid Hillview Airport. The latest accident occurred Wednesday night when the plane's landing gear collapsed, causing the plane to veer off the runway and skid into a nearby field.
A representative from the San Jose Fire Department stated, "It was noted that the landing gear either fell or was knocked down as the plane was resting on its belly … When firefighters arrived, there was no fire afterwards and no other hazards such as fuel leaks."
The pilot and passenger were treated for minor personal injuries. Earlier in the week, a second plane was involved in a similar injury as the result of a landing gear collapse.
Fortunately neither of these accidents involved serious personal injuries as is often the case in California plane accidents.
If you or a loved one has been injured in an aviation accident, it's a good idea to consult with a dedicated San Francisco personal injury lawyer right away. Plane accidents may occur for a variety of reasons including pilot error, product liability and other forms of negligence. Where you sustain harm – either as a passenger or a pilot or crew – as the result of negligence it may be possible to recover compensation.
Further, It is important to remember that in many situations, the true extent of an injury does not become apparent until years after the initial accident. Even after your injuries heal you may still face a life of lasting pain and discomfort. In order to avoid the serious threat of under-compensation for your injuries, it is essential that you hire a knowledgeable attorney to help ensure all your needs, present and future, are addressed in your claim.
