According to multiple news sources, at least 5 people have been reported killed in a bus accident when the charter bus swerved and crashed into a sign pole never Livingston in Merced County. Reports indicate that the vehicle was traveling northbound on Highway 99 when the incident occurred. Roughly 30 passengers were on board the bus which began its trip in Mexico on its way to Washington State, stopping in Los Angeles on Monday night with another planned stop in Sacramento. Several others, including the driver, sustained serious personal injuries.
The incident remains under investigation, but initial investigations reveal that the bus swerved, striking a support pole for a sign marking the Hammatt Avenue exit. The bus was split down the middle from the impact.
