According to CBS News San Francisco, two people were killed and three children suffered serious personal injuries in a car crash near Discovery Bay. Reports indicated that the crash occurred when a Chevrolet headed westbound crossed into the eastbound lane where the Town & County minivan carrying three adults and three children. The force of the accident caused the minivan to go into the water. Dive teams rescued the occupants of the vehicle. The children survived, however two adults died.
The driver of the Chevrolet was also taken to the hospital having sustained mild personal injuries. While the accident remains under investigation, authorities indicate that speed may have been a factor.
