San Francisco news reports that a 4-year-old boy remains in critical condition after suffering serious personal injuries in a boating accident. 29 other people were on the same boat when it capsized. After the accident occurred, the boy’s mother and father, as well as his brother were all taken to San Francisco general hospital for treatment of minor personal injuries. The victims were all passengers on a 34-foot sailboat named the “Khaleesi”, which overturned off of Pier 45.
According to initial reports, the boy was not breathing and unconscious when first rescued. The other passengers were rescued by the Coast Guard, police, firefighter and bystanders.
Several questions remain under investigation such as: Were all the proper boating safety protocols followed? Was everyone wearing a life jacket? Was the operator properly trained?
