Worker Dies at Ski Resort

San Francisco news reports that a 40-year-old Loveland Ski Area worker has died after becoming caught in a snow-level lift. The accident remains under investigation, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been contacted to review the incident. Initial reports indicate that the man got stuck in the “magic carpet” lift that is similar to a conveyor belt that carries skiers and snowboarders up the mountain.

Whenever fatal workplace accidents occur it’s important for the family members to contact an attorney immediately. While most on the job injuries fall into the workers compensation arena, in some instances it may be possible to file a civil personal injury/wrongful death case. Pursuant to California workers compensation laws, families may obtain death benefits and other fees. However, the administrative process may be complex resulting in delays. Other times, claims may be wrongfully denied. An experienced California workers compensation attorney can work with you to cut through the red tape, ensure the process is seamless, and help your family recover the benefits deserved in a timely manner. Further, a workplace injury lawyer can determine whether other avenues of recovery are available. This may include bringing a third party claim – for example where a defective machine or product may be partially to blame for causing injury. In this situation, a family may be able to recover a larger damage award to help offset the financial losses caused by an accident.

Obtaining the benefits you or a family member is owed following a workplace accident can be daunting. However, our experienced California injury lawyers have years of experience successfully helping families in need who are faced with workers compensation claims.
