A recent report found published by a San Francisco tech company found some interesting statistics regarding San Francisco’s most dangerous roadways and your risk for sustaining an injury in an accident. For example, during off-peak hours, motorists are 20% more likely to sustain injuries driving on Interstate 280 that on Highway 101. This includes incidents such as distracted driving accidents, rear-end collisions, and more serious head-on car crashes.
Further, the study found that in general motorists were more likely to get in accidents during off-peak rather than during rush hour, likely because drivers tend to slow down and pay more attention on crowded highways. Other findings include:
- You have the highest risk of getting into an auto accident on the San Mateo bridge at any time of the day.
- You have the lowest risk of getting into an auto accident during your morning commute on the Golden Gate bridge.
- The safest highway to avoid collisions is Interstate 580
